New York State Regulations

  • New York law requires puppies, kittens, and baby ferrets to be vaccinated for rabies at 3 months of age. Please keep your animals inside away from rabies exposure for 2 weeks after vaccination to allow immunity to develop.   • Every dog at the age of 4 months to have a valid dog license. Dog licenses can be obtained from your town clerk by providing a valid rabies certificate and must be renewed yearly.
  • Any dog adopted from a shelter to have a license, regardless of age, therefore, the Humane Society of Ontario County requires you to license your dog within 5 days of adoption, to comply with the law.

Please note the clinics are free but a donation is requested. Cats and ferrets must be in a secure container and only one animal per container, please. Dogs must be on a leash and under owners control at all times. Adults should accompany children under the age of 18. No one will be turned away.
